Principal's Message to JJSE Community 2019

After 13 years in the June Jordan School for Equity community and 17 years as an educator, my family and I have made an important decision to follow a long-time dream to move abroad. This summer, we will be packing up and moving to the island-nation of Taiwan. This move is an exciting one but also brings about grief and sadness as June Jordan’s community has been a big part of my life for the past two decades.

Save the date - 2/14/19 - Youth Summit!

Over the last two years, 600 elementary to high school students from across the City came to June Jordan to discuss topics that are important to them.

The topics have ranged from police reform, to gender equality, to immigration reform.

We have had school board members, scholars, Former Mayor Ed Lee, and SFPD police chief, just to name of few of the participants.

On Monday September 24th (2:00pm-2:45pm), a speaker from a historic event in which 2 African American females piloted a flight from San Francisco to Portland will join our community. One of the pilots will come to our school encouraging our female students, particularly our female students of color, to pursue STEM fields.
