College Access

Part of JJSE's mission is to provide all students with the opportunity to attend a four-year university. To graduate with a June Jordan diploma students must pass all courses to be eligible for the University of California and Cal State University system. Students must also pass five masterpieces to prepare them for college. In addition to these rigorous standards, students are prepared for college during the following JJSE sponsored events:

  • College Night - Fall event for students & parents to discuss SATs, College Applications, Graduation Requirements, etc.
  • College Symposium - In-school college event featuring panels, Financial Aid workshops, College Admissions officers
  • Financial Aid Night - Spring Event for students & parents to fill out their FAFSA applications
  • Fieldtrips to local Universities: U.C. Santa Cruz, University of San Francisco
  • All 12th graders are required to apply to at least 5 schools
  • All 11th graders take the PSAT during school

JJSE partners with the San Francisco College Access Center. The College Access Center can assist with college applications, financial aid applications, SAT/ACT fee waivers and tutoring.
